
Dehradun (Mohan Bhulani) : The government of Uttarakhand is making concerted efforts to improve the state’s healthcare services. In this regard, the National Urban Health Mission program initiated by the central government is being implemented in 38 urban primary health centers to provide health facilities to poor people. However, so far, the National Urban Health Mission has provided free treatment to more than four lakh patients. Additionally, the state has also provided teleconsultation services to over 1.16 lakh people through e-Sanjeevani.
Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has stated that work is underway in health centers, and the government is also working as a health and wellness center, conducting yoga sessions along with health activities.
Better healthcare services for people: The five urban areas of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Pauri have been identified for intensive efforts to improve the healthcare infrastructure. The government aims to provide quality medical facilities and ensure that people receive better healthcare services.
Improving infrastructure and services: The government has taken several steps to improve the healthcare infrastructure and services in the state. The key initiatives include:
- Upgrading Health Facilities: The government has undertaken the task of upgrading health facilities across the state. The state is upgrading district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers. The government has also approved the construction of new health centers in different parts of the state.
- Improving Medical Education: The government is working towards enhancing medical education in the state. It has established the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, and is working to improve medical colleges and other healthcare training institutes in the state.
- Telemedicine Services: The state is using telemedicine services to reach out to people living in remote areas. The government has established telemedicine centers in several districts, which provide medical consultations to patients who cannot visit hospitals.
- Ayushman Bharat Scheme: The government has launched the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in the state. Under this scheme, people from economically weaker sections are provided with free medical treatment.
- COVID-19 Management: The government has taken several steps to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. It has established COVID-19 hospitals and isolation centers in different parts of the state.
