“Corridors will be created to promote drone operations in Uttarakhand. The Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) has sought proposals from drone operation and construction companies for this purpose. After studying these proposals, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be sent the proposal through UKADA.
ITDA’s director, Nitika Khandelwal, mentioned that a meeting was held with all stakeholders during the formulation of drone policy. In it, stakeholders, especially drone manufacturers and operators, were asked for a proposed drone corridor.
She stated that after the proposal arrives, it will be studied according to the state’s airspace maps. Then, through Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UKADA), the proposal will be sent to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Once permission is obtained from the DGCA, drone corridors will be established in the state. The corridors created for drone operations in all districts will be interconnected. After that, the entire network of dedicated drone routes will be prepared in the state. Those who violate the regulations may face future actions.
Ensuring the safety of air services and restricted areas One of the objectives behind creating drone corridors is to establish routes that do not hinder air services. Similarly, as a border state, it will also ensure the security of all restricted areas.”
